Hours later, the plane runs out of fuel over the Atlantic and the 230,000Kg A330 with 304 people on-board, without engine power, glided for almost 20 minutes, descending from for more than 30,000 ft. before landing safely at Lajes Airport.

How safe can an airplane be?

These machines can fly without power. Yes, no engine running and still the heavy machines can fly and land safely with somany passenger on-board. These are not miracles. They are made to do so. They can land on sea, on grass fields and so on... Most of the systems in an airplane have redundant backups, or fail-safe techonology involved with them... so that you can fly safely...

But accidents do happen!!!

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5079625080744909858" style="FLOAT: left; A major problem in aviation...

Corrosion is one of the greatest enemies of airframes. Somany accidents occured due to corrosion. On April 28, 1988, 18 feet of skin ripped off an Aloha Airlines B737-200 in flight. Corrosion is also believed to have resulted in engines 3 and 4 falling off the wings of two B747-200 freighters; a China Airlines 747 in 1991 and an EL AL 747 in 1992. In both instances, the aircraft crashed. In the EL AL incident, which occurred in Amsterdam, all four crew members were killed along with 50 people on the ground.
Clearly, corrosion is something that demands detection, treatment, and, where possible, prevention.

Forms of corrosion.
There are many forms of aircraft corrosion. The most commonly known occurs when aluminum interacts with water, creating aluminum oxide. It is not just the exterior skin that is vulnerable; as the airframe expands and contracts in response to sunlight, heat, and cold, water can penetrate into rivet holes and thus deeper into the aircraft. As well, water spilled onto galley floors, or leaking around old toilets and sinks, can find its way into the airframe.

A less obvious but equally deadly form of decay is galvanic corrosion. This occurs on the atomic level, when ions flow between two adjacent, chemically different materials. Galvanic corrosion doesn’t just occur between metals; a composite/metal pairing can also result in ions being transferred.

How do we detect corrosion?
Generally, corrosion is detected visually. Technicians go over every accessible inch of an airframe during maintenance, or when the aircraft has been stripped down to the bare metal for repainting.

How do we treat corrosion?
Once corrosion has been detected, treatment is a must. In some cases, the damage is superficial enough to be removed, and then for the repaired area to be protected with anti-corrosion products. In others, corroded components may have to be removed and replaced.

Airframe corrosion doesn’t happen overnight. It can take a year or more for corrosion to seriously weaken an airframe. So the best way is to inspect the airframe regularly using a range of available techniques and tools.

Prevention is better than cure.

A visit to remember!

The Helicopter Museum located in Weston-super-Mare on the South West coast of England is the World's Largest Dedicated Helicopter Museum. This clearly is another record that no other team was able to grab so far in the history of Maldives footbball. The win also ensures that New Radiant will be playing in the AFC 2008.

Surprisingly it was Valencia in the last three years that tasted the defeat against New Radiant in the final and it was 2 – 0 in all the occasions. I love New Radiant!!!

Cradle of Filth in Bristol

Nymphetamine...Nymphetamine...Nymphetamine.......

Guess what??? Maybe because people use it too much, may be because nobody clean them and may be because people don’t know how to ‘poopoo’ properly!

Then all sort of stories come out. Bigger people may have bigger poopoos and so on. Some public toilets are filthy and smelly. I don’t even want to describe them here. Public toilets are dirty because too many people use them (i.e. not enough public toilets around so the existing ones are ‘overused’), they are not cleaned properly. Some of us don’t even know how to use the toilets properly.

Be honest, the last time you used the toilet, did you flush properly? Did you even dare hold the flush handle let alone use it? When you pee, did you ‘aim’ at the bowl or sprayed all over? When you did the heavy stuff, did you actually err.. sit on the toilet seat or did you squat on the toilet seat?

The funny thing is, we all expect clean toilets. All of us. We don’t want to use dirty smelly toilets. Our toilets at home are clean. So how can we tolerate the dirty state of our public toilets? Can’t we do something about it? Can we urge the people in charge to put in extra effort to maintain the toilets? Can we get them to provide us with clean toilets? Can the authorities pump in more money to provide clean toilets?

Well! This all applies when you are in a shared house. Will you be happy to flush your housemate’s shit floating in the toilet? Will you even want to see lumps of shit floating and spreading the ‘nice’ smell throughout the house?

Yes! if we all can flush and clean the toilet after use, the problem is almost solved. (Where is it?) and if you like something, it's 'gert lush'.

Yer tiz (Here it is) Innit (Isn't it) Wern it (Wasn't it) ant (hasn't) are just a few of many words unique to the West Country dialect. L's are frequently added to sentences, so 'Idea' becomes 'ideal', and 'mind' is added to the end of sentences to emphasise 'You know what I mean'.
Around the city you may find yourself in 'Bemmy' (Bedminster), 'Embray' (Henbury) or 'Taardown' (Totterdown) or you may venture further afield to 'Baff' (Bath)

And if you're travelling by bus, then don't forget the obligatory 'Churz drive' (Cheers/Thank you driver) as you disembark!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://unwarz.blogspot.com/2007/04/bristol-o-brizzle.html' title='Bristol? If I use the term mechanic, some say the term is degrading. They would say “technician” is a more professional title.
But not everybody agrees with that. To many, “technician” is a demeaning title. To them a technician refers to someone with a very specific skill – a lab technician (once i was, heh) for example. Technicians go through very specialized training on a very limited scale to do a very specific job. According to the FAA, we are called mechanics. Under EASA, we are mechanics before we get license and become engineers when we get license. Well, technically speaking that is correct.
Then you have those wanting to be called engineers. But are we really engineers? Does two years of school mean we can call ourselves engineers?
In the end, we will get the respect that we earn. If we call ourselves engineers, it won’t mean squat if we show up to work unshaven, with stained blue jeans and an un-tucked t-shirt with holes. It doesn’t matter how much training we have had or how many degrees are hanging on the wall, if we act un-professionally we are practically guaranteeing professional suicide.
What do you think? What title you prefer? Technician? AMT? A&P? Engineer? Does it even matter to you?

You may be wrong...

It’s not what you don’t know that will get you in trouble, it’s what you think you know that isn’t so.
It’s what you think you know that isn’t so. How true that statement is. Put it this way; You don’t know what you don’t know.
I tried to think of an example where this is true. How about memorizing torques or writing them down on cheat sheets in our toolbox instead of referring to the manual each time? We may not think it is that big a deal, but in reality we can be setting ourselves up for failure. Here’s an example from personal experience. Me and my partner were installing a fire extinguisher bottle in the avoinics bay of the Learjet in our college hanger at Gloucestershire airport. My partner has previous experience. Whne it comes to torque load the mounting bolts, he told that the bolts shud be torque loaded to 30-inch pounds by refering the size of the bolts. We did try but the bolts were lose at the end. In disbelief, he walked over to the maintenance manual to check for himself. He was surprised to see it. Yes its mentioned in the manual that those bolts shud be torque loaded to 60-70 inch pounds. He meant well, but he could have easily gotten in trouble by what he thought he knew that wasn’t so.
I agree that what we think we know that isn’t so can be just as dangerous if not more than just not knowing. At least if we don’t know, we tend to go to the appropriate manual to double-check. What do you think?

Anti-Skid Troubleshootingggg

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5038937334185321154" style="DISPLAY: block; As usual I started shuffling the more than 200 channels aimlessly, and this brought me to a hault,.....a new E4 drama set in Bristol about sex-crazed, dirty-mouthed feral teens staying up all night and getting stupefied on pills...

...young Tony sets the plotlines running as he tries to sort out a debut shag for speccy Sid before his forthcoming 17th birthday (failing which he will become an instant pariah), meanwhile sending him off to buy a bag of skunk on credit from a local psychopath ahead of that evening's party at a posh girl's house. The rest of the suitably variegated group are rounded up - beautiful Michelle, nutter Chris, dreamy Cassie with her eating disorders, and Anwar(ofcoz not me), interrupted on his mobile during prayers at the mosque ('Cheers, Tone - now my uncle wants to stone me to death'). They are easy to like as long as you're not the mum and dad arriving home from from the Maldives to find your living room remodelled by Moravian swineherds and your Range Rover in the river.( Bristol, Anwar, Maldives...!!!)

But it's is not all wild partying. One plot strand focuses on a girl struggling with an eating disorder in the face of useless adults, not to mention an overfriendly taxi driver old enough to be her dad...

Anyway. This is supposed to be a review of Skins, right? Except, when it comes to cultural reviews, the best time to write them is straight afterwards so you remember most of it; but I’ve procratinated on this review in the hope that I delete the entire memory from my mind, and because I didn’t take notes (who does?) I’ve forgotten half of what actually happened. Thankfully!

In any case, there is very little to recommend of Skins. I know most drama is supposed to be a flight of fancy, and that it’s just a story, but Skins claims that this is somewhat based upon real life, as if all teenagers handle unpaid for drugs and have the mafia on their backs, and it all ends in hilarious consequences. No, no it bloody well doesn’t. Don’t pay for drugs? You get shot, that’s what happens. As if white middle class teenagers would go near Mr Big; they’d probably just get on the phone to their deelah and would go nowhere near guns.

It was too much...

Look, if you don’t believe me (and I have a feeling that there will be many of my peers who will no doubt virulently disagree with me) check it out on Thursday nights, at 2200 on E4.

Salaam-e-Ishq...

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_FcHGbD9SK20/RbrKtboaCQI/AAAAAAAAAEs/uzBYF2iSTGg/s400/20070126-5.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5024551216145369346" />Well another day-out in Bristol. We( the bristol badboys) gave a big farewell to our beloved friend Firu, n then headed to cineworld( the cinema for hindi movies) here in bristol.
I am not a very bollywoodyyy fan but i do join the joy of my frends n enjoy the love movies..
we entered to the hall 5 mins to the showtime. and then...

This 3-hour-45 minute ‘Tribute To Love’ starts off quite grippingly. One after the other, the twelve characters are introduced. And the characters are colourful. There is a young married couple( John Abraham and Vidya Balan ) deeply in love with each other. There is a taxi driver who waits everyday for his dreamgirl ( Govinda and Shannon Esrechowitz ), an gori mem, at the airport. There are two lovers with broken engagement (Akshaye Khanna and Ayesha Takia ). There is an item girl who would do anything to get a role into a Karan Johar film( Priyanka Chopra and Salman Khan ). There is a middle-aged man with unfulfilled desires( Anil Kapoor and Juhi Chawla ). And there is a newly wed couple( Sohail Khan and Isha Koppikar ) unable to consummate their marriage.

In this huge ensemble, ‘Salaam-e-Ishq’ gets tangled in the second half( yah, there was this unusual 10 mins interval). Of the six love stories only three manage to make an impact. The others more-or-less remain bland.

Out of these six tracks, the stories featuring Akshaye Khanna and Govinda are the most entertaining. While Akshaye is simply superb in playing an eccentric, commitment phobic lover, Govinda brings the house down with his trademark humour. Sohail Khan, too, is very funny. But his track with Isha Koppikar is relegated to the background for most part of the film. The Salman-Priyanka track is bland and boring. It is a story without any head or toe. And to make things worse, both Salman and Priyanka have acted poorly.

The Anil Kapoor-Juhi Chawla track works solely because of performances( we all voted them the best). On the other hand, the track featuring John and Vidya lacks any depth. It merely ends up as the story of a man trying to revive the lost memory of his wife. Vidya is natural in her performance while John leaves much to be desired.

Despite too many tear-jerking moments, there are hardly one or two scenes that genuinely stir your emotions.

Of the six stories, four meet together at a big fat Indian wedding in the end. Thankfully, there is some humour in the climax to send the us back home with a smile on our faces.

Watch the longy longy movie when u get time, u will worth it....

Is this the reason Ronaldo is fat?

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FcHGbD9SK20/RbgEYLoaCPI/AAAAAAAAAEU/dfatqwtPt9c/s200/photo20-6.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5023770197817428210" />Much has been made at this World Cup about the size of Ronaldo’s waistline. He arrived at the World Cup weighing over 95 kg, 13 kg above his normal “fighting weight”. The question is what made him so fat?

Here is the answer i have found. He seems to have Coke’s slogan: “Eat football. Sleep football. A purely well deserved end to a long awaiting. Yes! my first match to be watched in a stadium out side the Maldives.

After all its Brazil the world number one and Portugal( currently 9th in the fifa ranking). Ronaldinho, Kaka, Christiano Ronaldo, Deco....... n many more world class players performing in a world class stadium ( the new stadium of Arsenal opend july 2006).

Historically the two nations have always enjoyed close ties, and last met in March 2003 at the old Estádio das Antas. Ronaldinho was on target for Brazil but goals from Pauleta and Brazil-born playmaker Deco, on his Portugal debut, gave Scolari's side victory. Overall, Portugal have won two of the teams' four meetings, with Brazil recording one success.

I cant wait!!!

Is January 1st the New Year Day.

The celebration of the new year on January 1st is a relatively new phenomenon.
According to the early roman calender new year was celerated on march 1st.The first time the new year was celebrated on January 1st was in Rome in 153 B.C.But this new year date was not always strictly and widely observed, and the new year was still sometimes celebrated on March 1. Both systems often require redundant backup, which further increases weight. Furthermore, both have limited ability to compensate for changing aerodynamic conditions.

By using computers and electrical linkages, designers can save weight and improve reliability. Electronic fly-by-wire systems can respond more flexibly to changing aerodynamic conditions, by tailoring flight control surface movements so that airplane response to control inputs is consistent for all flight conditions. Electronic systems require less maintenance, whereas mechanical and hydraulic systems require lubrication, tension adjustments, leak checks, fluid changes, etc. Furthermore putting circuitry between pilot and aircraft can enhance safety; for example the control system can prevent a stall, or can stop the pilot from overstressing the airframe.

Most fly-by-wire systems incorporated redundant computers and some kind of mechanical or hydraulic backup. This may seem to negate some advantages of fly-by-wire, but the redundant systems can be simpler, lighter, and offer only limited capability since they are for emergency use only.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FcHGbD9SK20/RY1TdCCeCSI/AAAAAAAAACU/hMooXMrgRgw/s400/autopilot.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5011753718561769762" />is this fly by wire??!!!

Assume the Position

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FcHGbD9SK20/RYSKICCeCQI/AAAAAAAAAB0/ldugpn39s5o/s320/zzzzzzzzz.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5009280556133648642" />

Ok, all you stomach sleepers out there--listen up! In order to help prevent the formation of wrinkles, you need to learn to sleep on your back.

Sleeping on your side or stomach creates wrinkles because you bury your face in the pillow and the wrinkles are ironed onto your skin as you sleep. This won't happen if you sleep perfectly still on your back.

HHmmmmm that sucks! So much for beauty sleep.

30 seconds for men!!!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FcHGbD9SK20/RX2uTpDQnGI/AAAAAAAAABU/-8SwH5AVKqU/s200/01speed1.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5007350013166132322" />
HALF of all women make their minds up within 30 seconds of meeting a man about whether he is potential boyfriend material, according to a study on speed-dating.

The women were on average far quicker at making a decision than the men during some 500 speed dates at an event organised as part of Edinburgh Science Festival.

What makes us yawn?

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FcHGbD9SK20/RX2rSZDQnFI/AAAAAAAAABI/yiFFDCvXVeM/s400/yawn.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5007346693156412498" />
Next time you're in a meeting, try this little experiment: Take a big yawn, cover your mouth out of courtesy, and watch and see how many people yawn. There's a good chance that you'll set off a chain reaction of yawns. Before you finish reading this, it's likely that you will yawn at least once. Don't misunderstand, i am not intending to bore you, but just reading about yawning will make you yawn, just as seeing or hearing someone else yawn makes us yawn.

While the dictionary tells us that yawning is caused by being fatigued, drowsy or bored, scientists are discovering that there is more to yawning than what most people think. Not much is known about why we yawn or if it serves any useful function, and very little research has been done on the subject. However, there are several theories about why we yawn.

Is there a doctor in the house?

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FcHGbD9SK20/RXidF5DQnDI/AAAAAAAAAAw/T_Bf2nhjyDI/s200/050816-F-8936P-0001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5005923710361705522" />
I made a loose analogy between the different stages of an aircraft maintanence engineer's career and a doctor’s career. Mostly about the pay and the responsibilities.
Some of u may think that we have more responsibility than a doctor. As a doctor holds a life in his hands each time he diagnoses a patient. A wrong diagnosis or unsuccessful surgery could lead to death. Our patients are airplanes. Unlike a doctor, a wrong diagnosis or repair can lead to multiple fatalities.

So where does pay fall in? If we hold so many lives in our hands should we be paid as much as or more than doctors? Again it goes back to the old supply and demand. If there is a shortage of mechanics and a great demand then pay will go up to try and attract and keep the employees. So what are your thoughts? Is there a doctor in the house? lol..

This Plane is not Safe!!!!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FcHGbD9SK20/RXidapDQnEI/AAAAAAAAAA8/1Ri5xYU5HKw/s200/Kopie~von~Urlaub2004-3~163.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5005924066843991106" />
“Do not fly with this plane, it is not safe.” Those are some pretty direct words — no beating around the bush. If a pilot were to hear these words uttered from a mechanic, he would probably think twice about flying that aircraft.

But what if it was a pilot who said that? What if you were a passenger on an aircraft, buclked in and ready for takeoff, when you heard those words come across the intercom? Believe it or not, that situation did happen to some unfortunate passengers. The Daily Mail reported a few weeks back that a jet carrying 180 tourists was grounded when its pilot made some unsettling comments. The A321 was about to take off when a srange sound came from one of the engines. That is when the captain announced, “I am resigning from my job. Do not fly with this plane. It is not safe. Do not fly with Onur Air.”

The pilot was escorted off the aircraft leaving the passengers onboard an aircraft with temperatures over 100 degrees and no air conditioning. The passengers eventually deplaned, retrieved their luggage, and went to back to the terminal where an alternate flight had been arranged.

When the pilot made the announcement, there were varied reactions from the passengers. Some laughed nervously while others were crying and almost screaming. About 20 of them refused to board the re-booked flight and made travel arrangements to get home.

I don’t know how I would have reacted in that situation. I think I would have laughed at the surreal atmosphere of the situation. I likely would have been one of those trying to find an alternate means of getting home.

Third consecutive failure.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_FcHGbD9SK20/RXMmDTL1ElI/AAAAAAAAAAM/fHsToZot4d8/s400/images.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5004385449070105170" />
This is going to be a real hard tournament for coach Stoikov, as under his belt this is the third consecutive failure for Maldives. A modern turbine engine is extremely efficient, and there is still a lot of oxygen available in the exhaust stream. The idea behind an afterburner is to inject fuel directly into the exhaust stream and burn it using this remaining oxygen. This heats and expands the exhaust gases further, and can increase the thrust of a jet engine by 50% or more.

The big advantage of an afterburner is that you can significantly increase the thrust of the engine without adding much weight or complexity to the engine.

The disadvantage of an afterburner is that it uses a lot of fuel for the power it generates. Therefore most planes use afterburners sparingly.

So You Want to be an Aircraft Mechanic?

There are a host of reasons why year after year thousands of intelligent individuals attempt to break into the aviation maintenance career field.

They will do anything and everything they can just to get their "Foot in the Door".

Where else are you required to accomplish many tasks with sheer brute force and brawn, exceeding the bodies normal capability? You also must weave your body into unimaginable locations filled with wire and sharp objects, and function with the precision of a surgeon. Our bodies are required to withstand the sun, wind, rain, cold, and the darkness of night. We often use our senses of smell, sound, sight, touch, and even taste to determine whether an item is capable of withstanding the required loads or meeting its objective. Our hands are burned, punctured, smashed, cut, and placed in areas and chemicals that have been deemed too dangerous and harmful for even laboratory animals.

Aviation mechanics must know the systems intimately, and be able to reason, calculate, and rationalize any defect imaginable. These functions must be performed with great speed and accuracy, as humiliation and/or unemployment await the incapable. The mechanic must know, interpret, and attempt to locate vital information in a vast array of books, publications, and bulletins. Then, upon successful accumulation of the data, we must use skills and techniques to produce a job that will sustain lives. Upon completion we must document our every move, and be prepared to enter federal prosecution, which could result in fines, loss of license, and/or sentencing.

Weekends, normal hours, and holidays are often talked about, but seldom enjoyed. Pagers have become as common as the Phillips head screwdriver. In addition, we are expected to be neat, clean, and have a delightful disposition. However, with any job of this caliber, a few frustrations and a little stress is to be expected.

Sometimes it's so good I can hardly stand it myself.

It's no wonder why so many individuals want to be just like me.

SUCK-SQUEEZE-BANG-BLOW!!!!

Whoops! With a title like that you probably think you've hit the wrong website.
While the above title may sound like something out of my writings, it's really just a creative way of remembering the stages of a turbojet engine uses in aircrafts.

Hmmm, that doesn't sound much better, does it?

OK, let's start with the basics.

Most modern passenger and military aircraft are powered by gas turbine engines, which are also called jet engines. The first and simplest type of gas turbine is the turbojet.

In a basic turbo jet, the air enters the front intake (suck) and is compressed by the compressor (squeeze), then forced into combustion chambers where fuel is sprayed into them and the mixture is ignited (bang). The gases which form expand rapidly, and are exhausted through the rear of the combustion chambers and out through the nozzle (blow) providing the forward thrust. Just before the gases enter the engine nozzle, they pass through a fan-like set of turbine blades which rotates the engine shaft. This shaft, in turn, rotates the compressor, thereby bringing in a fresh supply of air through the intake. All of these processes are happening at the same time.

A basic turbojet engine.

How does the toilet in a commercial airliner work?

Toilets have a bad image because of what we put into them, but if you can get past that and focus on the technology behind them, they can be amazing devices!

The typical home toilet uses a bowl filled with water. When you flush the toilet, it starts a siphon that drains the bowl. Gravity then carries the water into the septic tank or the sewer system.

The problem with this approach on an airplane is that the motion of the vehicle means you cannot use a bowl filled with water -- it would splash out every time a little turbulence came along. Since there is no bowl of water, you cannot use a siphon or gravity to empty the bowl.

Airplane toilets use an active vacuum instead of a passive siphon, and they are therefore called vacuum toilets. When you flush, it opens a valve in the sewer line, and the vacuum in the line sucks the contents out of the bowl and into a tank. Because the vacuum does all the work, it takes very little water (or the blue sanitizing liquid used in airplanes) to clean the bowl for the next person. Most vacuum systems flush with just half a gallon (2 liters) of fluid or less, compared to 1.6 gallons (6 liters) for a water-saving toilet and up to 5 gallons (19 liters) for an older toilet. Amazing heh!!!!!!!

The loss of engines

Two blondes were flying to Miami from Cleveland. Fragmentation of the urine stream causes particles of urine to dissipate. The larger the distance urine has to travel, the bigger the dissipation radius gets.
Some of you may say, "No, not me! I can pee through a donut from 40 feet above!" Well, mister hand-eye coordination, you are probably one of those people who also never ask for directions. Admitting that you have a problem is half the battle. At some point in your life you need to ask yourself, "Is it worth it? What has peeing standing up cost me in my life?"

Peeing standing up destroys families. Who cleans the bathrooms in your house? Your mother? Your wife? Even if you clean up after yourself, what happens when you are a guest at someone's home, over at your friend's house, visiting the inlaws, or using a public bathroom? Why should someone else have to suffer for your unwillingness to sit down? So a victimless crime!!!!

Eid Mubarak!!

The holy month of fasting over now.
This is the time to celebrate the good things that we have received, Allah’s bounty and our family and friends.
Time to decorate our houses for eid.
Time for a new complete oufit, right down to the shoes.
In between visiting, people make trips out into the streets.
Time to have gr8 fun!!!

Eid ayee, hinithun vamun,
maa malugaa nala kula jassamun........

Could Concorde Ever Fly Again?

Concorde - Built in Bristol

Admired by many, flown on by some, loathed by a few - Concorde's place in aviation history is assured.

World first and only supersonic(travels faster than sound) passenger aircraft may have retired three years ago, but engineers in France have been keeping one plane in perfect condition, in an aerospace museum near Paris. The engineers are trying to keep the systems in a state of readiness.
But the biggest question is ofcoz, will it ever or could it ever fly again?
To be honest, I do not have an answer for this question. The engineers say that her systems are not flight ready. But they are keeping her systems in state that the aircraft is as near as they can get her to fly. So there is a hope!

Some major events in the history of Concorde.

Concorde completed its first supersonic flight on 1 October 1969.

The first commercial flights took place on 21 January 1976 when British Airways flew from London Heathrow to Bahrain and Air France from Paris to Rio.

Concorde's image was dented with the crash near Paris on 25 July 2000 in which 113 people died.

In April 2003 British Airways and Air France announced the plane would be retired due to falling passenger revenue and rising maintenance costs.

Concorde's final commercial flight was on 23 October 2003.

On 27th November 2003 the last Concorde landed at its new home - the Bristol airfield where it was built.

<img style="float:left; This 555-seat aircraft will deliver an unparalleled level of comfort while retaining all the benefits of commonality with Airbus’ other fly-by-wire aircraft Families.

Thirty years after launching the world’s first twin-aisle, twin-engine jetliner, Airbus is preparing to introduce its A380 as the first true double-deck passenger airliner for the long-range market. The A380 offers unprecedented levels of productivity, efficiency and economics in passenger service, while the A380-800F cargo version is to be the first commercial freighter with three full cargo decks.

Do You Want To Become A Licensed Aircraft Engineer?

What is required to become a licensed aircraft engineer?

Well, if u are considering a career in aircraft maintenance. consider this.... It involves a lot of studying with relatively low pay and little gratitude.

If u still want to be involved in aircraft maintenance you'll need to first get a basic easa 66 training (that is if u want to become a ground engineer). Mechanic's don't need this.

(go to http://www.easa.eu.int/home/regul_en.html)

This easa 66 training includes 17 modules. U don't have to do all the modules, u decide wich direction u wish to go, there is B-1, B-2 or cat 'A' (certifying mechanic) in easa 66

U may also go for sheet metal work, aircraft deco (paint), trim (cabin maintenance mechanics), etc.

After u have your basic easa 66 training u are classified as a ground engineer without a type-rating.

A type rating is a license on a type of aircraft. For this type rating u will need a certain amount of experience, this is dictated by the easa but most companies have their own experience demands (must be equal or longer then easa's personal experience time demand ofcourse).

When u have the experience on the type that u are trying to get your type rating on then u must do a 'type course' wich typically takes about 4 or 6 weeks theory and 3 or 4 months on the job training for your first licence.

Having completed all that you are probably about 7 years down the line and a ground engineer.

Welcome To My AeroMach Blog

This blog is not meant to advertise myself to companies or to advertise any companies themselves, it just seemed like a fun thing to do to make my own blog and tell whats around me and aircraft maintenance in gereral.

My personal view is that it's better to have an open view of what's going on in the world of aviation then to keep hearing on the news about airplanes being involved in incidents and cancelled flights.

Are there mistakes made in aviation? Yes...

Are there safety nets to prevent these mistakes do not lead to incidents or even accidents?
